The Very Basics On Anabolic Steroids

The use of anabolic steroids in both amateur and professional sports is widespread. However, there is now a major effort by all sports organizations to help get rid of anabolic steroids off the market. Anabolic steroids have been used by athletes for decades.

These potent drugs are known to increase body mass and muscle size. The major anabolic steroid hormone made by the human body is testosterone. Testosterone is a male hormone that is normally responsible for building the body size. It also plays an important role in the development of the secondary sexual features in a male- such as facial hair and deepening of voice.

Over the years, many types of synthetic anabolic hormones have become available. Some of these synthetic drugs are precursor hormones and others are the mimics of testosterone.

These anabolic steroids can be taken as a pill, maybe injected or can even be applied as a patch. One should know that anabolic steroids are not illegal when prescribed by a physician when treating a medical disorder (e.g. AIDs wasting), but are illegal when used for the sole purpose of body building.

There is no doubt that anabolic steroids can rapidly build up body size and muscle mass. They also help one recover quickly after an injury. However, these drugs also have potent side effects, including rage and anger.
